Wendy Williams peeped Bill Cosby‘s game way before his horrendous sexual assault allegations blew up. The talk show host went on The Stern Show Wednesday and revealed that Cosby even tried to get her fired for discussing the allegations in the 1990s.
“Didn’t Bill Cosby attempt to get you fired from your job?” Howard Stern asked Williams, to which she seemingly agreed, replying, “[in] 1991 [and] 1992.” Stern commended Williams for being one of the first to take on Cosby’s sexual assault allegations on her radio show. However, Wendy was quick to not take the compliment.
“I’m not talking Howard,” Williams said, with a confused Stern replying, “What? Have I hit on something here?”
“No, it just…it is what it is. It’s really uncomfortable…If people did not understand what I was saying back in 1992 and 1993 and now all of a sudden they’re coming late to the party. I’m exhausted, I’m moving on,” Williams said.
Despite Williams wanting to move on, Stern continued to press her, asking her for details on Cosby trying to fire her from the radio show. “I’m a young girl, I’m in my twenties, it’s like 1992 or 91,” Williams explained. “I’m on the air in the morning doing my gossip report, the GM is in his office — this is like seven o’clock in the morning. Cosby is on the phone talking to the GM. The GM is definitely agreeing with Cosby and figuring out what do we do with me.”
Williams said in the end she was able to keep her job because she was good at what she did. Stern asked Williams her opinion on the Cosby assault charges and Williams hit him with one word, “guilty.” When asked if she was upset about the recent hung jury that kept Cosby out of prison, Williams responded, “Don’t care. I know what I know and people need to understand what they understand.”
There you have it. Sexual assault rumors surrounded Cosby way before Hannibal Buress bought it up in his 2014 comedy routine. Yep, Wendy was on the hot topics over 20 years ago.
